🛫 Fly Frontier Virtual – Pilot Handbook

Last Updated: June 2025

Welcome to Fly Frontier Virtual (FFv)! This handbook outlines all the essential information, procedures, and expectations for our pilots. Please read it in full before beginning your virtual airline career with us.

1. About Fly Frontier Virtual

Fly Frontier Virtual is a community of passionate flight simulation enthusiasts replicating the operations of Frontier Airlines. We are not affiliated with the real-world airline but strive for realism, professionalism, and fun.

We support Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, and Prepar3D, and welcome pilots of all skill levels. Our operations reflect the actual Frontier route network and aircraft types, and we encourage flying on VATSIM or IVAO, although it's not required.

2. Membership & Conduct

2.1 Eligibility

  • Must be at least 13 years old (per Discord ToS).

  • Must own a supported flight simulator.

  • Must have basic knowledge of flight simulation and navigation.

2.2 Discord & Website Rules

  • Respect others at all times.

  • Use your real first name and last initial on your profile.

  • Nicknames must follow this format: First LastInitial FFT### | Hub Airport

  • No harassment, discrimination, or hate speech.

  • Do not spam channels or misuse support tools.

2.3 Activity Policy

  • All pilots must fly at least once every 30 days.

  • Inactive pilots will be marked as inactive on our website and may be restricted from certain selections.

3. Flight Operations

3.1 ACARS and PIREPs

  • All flights must be logged using our ACARS system.

  • Manual PIREPs must include valid flight details, route, block times, and fuel usage.

  • All flights should be flown realistically — no sim rate acceleration or teleporting.

  • Pausing at Top Of Decent is allowed, but not for an over extended period of time.

3.2 Flight Requirements

  • SimBrief OFP must be used for all flights.

  • Cruise altitudes should follow RVSM and real-world Frontier practices.

  • All aircraft must depart and arrive at valid Frontier hubs or destinations.

  • Diversions are allowed only in response to weather, technical failure, or ATC conditions.

3.3 Fleet

Fly Frontier Virtual operates the following aircraft:

  • Airbus A320-200

  • Airbus A320neo

  • Airbus A321-200

  • Airbus A321neo

All flights must use liveries matching Frontier's branding, where available.

4. Ranks & Promotions

Pilot ranks are based on total logged flight hours. As you accumulate more hours, you’ll be automatically promoted through the following structure:

Rank Title Hours Required
1 Reserve First Officer 0+ hrs
2 First Officer 25+ hrs
3 Senior First Officer 60+ hrs
4 Reserve Captain 100+ hrs
5 Junior Captain 120+ hrs
6 Captain 160+ hrs
7 Senior Captain 200+ hrs
8 Line Check Airman 300+ hrs

Promotions are based strictly on logged hours via ACARS or approved manual PIREPs. Any fraudulent logging will result in immediate disciplinary action. Staff reserves the right to adjust ranks in exceptional circumstances (e.g., hour transfers).

5. Events & Online Networks

5.1 Online Flying

  • VATSIM is required for group events.

  • Be professional and courteous when interacting with controllers or other pilots.

  • Use proper callsigns (e.g., FFT123) and file accurate flight plans.

5.2 Events

  • Regular events will be posted in the #events channel on Discord and on the website.

  • Event participation may include bonuses like hour multipliers or giveaways.

  • Pilots are expected to sign up and show up on time.

6. Hub System

Fly Frontier Virtual operates a hub-based structure reflecting real-world Frontier operations. You will choose your base during registration or role selection.

Current Hubs:

  • KDEN – Denver (Main Hub)

  • KMCO – Orlando

  • KLAS – Las Vegas

  • KPHL – Philadelphia

Each hub is overseen by a Hub Manager. Feel free to reach out with hub-specific questions or suggestions.

7. Transfers & Leave

7.1 Transfer Hours
